Zonegreen has installed a train movement warning system at Connolly Valeting Plant in Dublin, Ireland to provide protection for Irish Rail maintenance workers.
The system is used to alert personnel working on or near tracks of imminent train movements, allowing them time to reach a position of safety. A treadle switch detects inbound vehicles and activates audible and visual warnings to staff. The warning beacons and klaxon will remain activated until they are cancelled by the designated person or the configurable warning time delay has expired.
The depot doors are interfaced with the warning system, allowing them to open automatically when a vehicle movement is detected.
Christian Fletcher, Zonegreen’s technical director, said: “It is really encouraging to see Irish Rail investing so heavily in the safety of its workforce and recognising the role technology can play in reducing risk in depots. We have worked together closely to implement these upgrades and look forward to continuing our long and successful relationship through the next two DPPS installations.”
